Defending the Status Quo in The Dark Knight Rises

Resumen	Aunque no es tan popular o innovador como su The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises de Christopher Nolan de 2012 es un producto cultural importante del siglo XXI. La película presenta una serie de villanos que desafían el orden social corrupto de Gotham City, que a su vez se erige como una figura del capitalismo estadounidense del siglo XXI. No obstante, a pesar de estas críticas, la película defiende el neoliberalismo estadounidense como el mejor de muchos sistemas defectuosos. Although not as popular or groundbreaking as his Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan’s 2012 The Dark Knight Rises is an important cultural artefact of the twenty-first century. The film presents a number of villains who challenge the corrupt social order of Gotham City, which itself stands as a figure for twenty-first century American capitalism. Nonetheless, despite these criticisms, the film upholds American neoliberalism as the best of many flawed systems.
